Long Product

» Billets

A section of steel used for rolling into bars, rods and sections. It can be a product of the ingot route, or increasingly today produced directly by continuous casting.

» Flat Bar

Flat bar can also be identified as Strip, Strapping, Flat Stock This can come in Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled or Galvanized Flat Bar.

» Reinforcing Steel Bars

A rebar, or reinforcing bar, is a common steel bar, and is commonly used in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures. It is usually formed from carbon steel, and is given ridges for better mechanical anchoring into the concrete. It can also be described as reinforcement or reinforcing steel

» Wire Rod

Wire rod is a rolled alloy or nonalloy steel product, produced from a semi (e.g. bloom) and having a round, rectangular or other cross-section. Particularly fine cross-sections may be achieved by subsequent cold forming (drawing). Wire rod is wound into coils and transported in this form.

» U Channel

"U" Channel products display a smooth, attractive finish, and can hold exceptionally tight tolerances and sharp contours.

» Beams

There are two standard I-beam forms:

  • Rolled I-beam, formed by hot rolling, cold rolling or extrusion (depending on material).
  • Plate girder, formed by welding (or occasionally bolting or riveting) plates.

I-beams are commonly made of structural steel but may also be formed from aluminum or other materials. A common type of I-beam is the rolled steel joist (RSJ) - sometimes incorrectly rendered as "reinforced steel joist". British and European standards also specify Universal Beams (UBs) and Universal Columns (UCs). These sections have parallel flanges, as opposed to the varying thickness of RSJ flanges. UCs have equal or near-equal width and depth, while UBs are deeper.
