Flat Product

SAC International Steel offers a wide variety of Flat Roll products can include pickling, cold-rolling, tempering, annealing, galvanizing, and painting of coils.

» Hot Rolled Plates

Extremely resistant to corrosion and wear-resistant, hot rolled products (CPP and Quarto) are used for some of the most challenging applications and environments.

» Hot Rolled Coils, Strips, Sheets

Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled or Hot Rolled Dry- hot rolled coil or sheet steel that has been descaled of oxide film by either a chemical method, mechanical method, or a combination of both and oiled to help retard corrosion during storage and after descaling. "HRPO" is available in various gauges, widths, and cut lengths or coil.

» Cold Rolled Coils, Strips, Sheets

Cold Rolled Sheet Steel products range from Commercial Steel (CS) to very highly formable Deep Drawing Steel (DDS) to High Strength Steel (HSS).

The range of products that are available are best defined using the designation system that is used in the ASTM specifications related to these products. Not all products are covered by the designators in the ASTM specifications; they can be established by contact us : info@sacsteel.com

Coating Chemistriesn

  • Galvanized - 100% zinc
  • GALVALUME® - 55% aluminum, 45% zinc
  • Galfan - 95% zinc and 5% aluminum
Coating Weights
  • Galvanized for roofing is produced in either G60 or G90 coating weights
    • G stands for Galvanized
    • 60 and 90 stand for 0.6 or 0.9 of an ounce coating per sq. ft. total both sides
  • GALVALUME® is produced in either AZ50 or AZ55 coating weights
    • AZ stands for Aluminum/Zinc
    • 50 and 55 stand for 0.5 or 0.55 of an ounce coating per sq. ft. total both sides
Common Coated Sheet Specifications
  • General requirements for hot dipped coated sheets - ASTM A924
  • Hot dipped Galvanized sheets - ASTM A653
  • GALVALUME® Sheets - ASTM A792
  • Galfan - ASTM A875
Metallic Coatings
Metallic coatings are used to resist corrosion.
Two general types of metallic coatings:
  • Sacrificial - coating reacts to protect steel in corrosive media
    • GALVALUME®
    • Galvanized
    • Galfan
  • Barrier - coating provides barrier against corrosive media and is not as reactive
    • GALVALUME®
    • Aluminum Coated
GALVALUME®
  • GALVALUME® is a unique combination of both a sacrificial and barrier coating
  • The zinc provides protection on exposed edges and places where the coating may become scratched
  • The aluminum provides an excellent barrier to corrosive media

  1. This table lists common coatings. It does not list all of the available coating variations. Generally, most systems are one mil (0.001 in. or 25 microns) thick except where noted.
  2. Includes resistance to severe natural and industrial environments.
  3. Four mils (0.004 in. or 100 microns) or greater coating thickness.

» Tin Plate

Tinplate is a thin steel sheet coated by tin. It has an extremely beautiful metallic luster as well as excellent properties in corrosion resistance, solderability, and weldability. Tinplate is used for making all types of containers such as food cans, beverage cans, 18-liter cans, and artistic cans. Its applications are not limited to containers; recently, tinplate has also been used for making electrical machinery parts and many other products. Tin Free Steel (TFS) is produced by applying electrolytic chromic acid treatment over steel sheets. This steel product was developed to meet economic requirements, and excels tinplate in paintability, paint adhesion, and economy. It is widely used for making beverage cans and 18-liter cans. It is also used for making photographic film cases and as a protective material for optical fiber cables.
